Meet the Team: Billy Schilling

Get to know Billy Schilling, our Director of Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) Services:

 

What is your background/experience with LDAR?

I started as a monitoring technician and was quickly thrown into Inventory Projects. I traveled the country performing Inventory Projects for 8 years, starting at the bottom and worked my way up to managing Projects.

In 2012 I went to work for Eastman Chemical in Longview. That’s where I learned the most. We integrated the knowledge that we all had to implement and create one of the best LDAR programs and cultures in the industry. That was short lived as a group of us saw an opportunity In early 2013 to start an environmental company, BLOC Environmental Solutions. We were able to successfully grow and build upon our relationships until February 2020, when we were acquired by ERI Solutions.

I now work full time at the Eastman Longview site while providing and passing on the knowledge that I’ve accumulated all while working with the best crew of people I’ve ever worked with. I look forward to growing with PROtect and enhancing our overall LDAR services that we provide to industry. Overall I’ve been doing Leak Detection & Repair for 17 Years.

 

What do you think is the most important part of what PROtect does?

In every aspect of our business, we are there to provide our customers with top of the line services that keep them operating as well as providing the individuals who work onsite a safe and environmentally sound work environment. From contractors to customer employees, it’s important to me that we all have a place to come back to tomorrow.

 

Why do you think people choose to work with PROtect?

People go with PROtect because of our depth of experience, trained workforce, and the wide array services that we can provide. We are a growing company that only strives to provide best in class service to meet our customers’ needs. We value quality in the work that we provide. You would never put your children in a cheap car seat, you pay to PROtect them, that same value on life is how we value our customers. We’re all people at the end of the day with families to come home to. We strive to make sure we provide the best quality to PROtect our customers. That’s the value we strive for.

 

What do you do you enjoy doing when you are not at work?

I really enjoy fishing and cooking but we also have 4 daughters that our world revolves around. From singing to dance and volleyball, we stay very busy. When we’re not running the roads with them, we have a great big group of friends that get together every weekend to hang out.  Nothing more important to me than having a tight circle of people that you can lean on and grow with.

 

What did you want to be growing up?

I wanted to Major League Baseball Player. This is the sport that built my character. What I learned from being the catcher and captain of our high school baseball team is what I have taken to my professional career, you don’t have to be the superstar of the organization or group of people you work with, just be the glue that holds it all together. Creating a culture of trust and loyalty is what’s important to me.

 

Who is your favorite sports team?

My favorite sports team is the Houston Astro’s.
